Scenic Design

Here you will find shows I both designed and painted my senior year of college.

The Woolgatherer, Winter 2009

This was a completely student designed studio show.I painted trompe l'oeil peeling wallpaper on the walls, and had a lot of fun distressing the set with what looked like water and smoke damage. I also added a mouse hole and mouse to the corner (seen below) which was a nice little touch that you only saw if you really looked. My budget for props, paint and scenery was $200 (of which I only used about a third).

"Mostly Mozart" Opera Periaktoids - Spring 2009

I was referred to Gayla Blaisdell, the director of "Mostly Mozart" Opera, by Christina Barrigan, Central's resident Lighting Designer, to design and paint three periaktoids for the Music Deptartment's yearly Opera. For this project I also oversaw the work of some students who were in the Opera, and had never lifted a paintbrush in their lives. There were three "scenes" used throughout the Opera, "the inside", "the desert", and "the terrace", asseen below.

Shakespeare's R & J - Spring 2009

This was another completely student designed studio show. The budget for R & J, also very small, was footed entirely by the Director. Some props for R & J were provided by myself.
